Thursday May 23, 2019 - 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm

Diversity in literature requires more than assigning a different gender, identity or nationality than ourselves. It requires the incorporation of that person’s culture. Whether historical or futuristic, people carry their cultures within them, and that includes their religions. They might be loud and proud to display their heritage, or they might be quiet and subtle. Either way, sometimes we forget that what we consider myths might still be living religions. They might be supplanted by another religion, but the stories are still be deeply ingrained in their cultures. Respect demands more than inclusion and our authors will explore mistakes, and how to pay proper homage.
