Only in Star Trek can you give a primitive a laser weapon…well, you can do it anywhere, but of course the primitive would be confused when it accidently fires and kills a Red Shirt. As writers, we have to study our characters, the time period, and the weapons available to us in that time line. Sure we can pick a sword we like, but not if it didn’t exist at that time. Where’s the safety on that hand gun? What can our laser’s really do? Our authors will discuss their thinking behind the weapons in their books.
